To the county with what ranked as probably the best slogan ever...(and a shorter aerial at that)
"Tune In and Rip yer Knob Off"

The
"All Stars" with a bit of it...![]()
During the early 90's Invicta FM had a potent line up - under Neil Taylor (programme controller, breakfast now with CFM [North Kent]), including Adrian John (ex Radio 1), Johnny Lewis (ex. Radio Caroline) and lest we forget one Caesar the Boogieman (later Ceasar the Geezer, ex. Essex FM, Kiss FM). I've got a signed photo of him - honest guv....
And
there it is in all its glory. Amazing. Here was a bit of radio, veering from
9-12pm or 10-1am(2am), which had people phoning up about anything an everything,
some
really professionally done quality jingles and an assortment of characters
- one Ian Collins as 'the yob' (now Talk Radio?) came out of this show. This
just about showed all walks of life and established that most of them were completely
off their trolleys.
This was also the era of the '7 second delay' - a certain jingle signified that kicking in and another caller departed the airwaves rapidly.
It probably outstayed it's welcome in the end - late night topics got far too serious and dreary then everything came to a head with the (allegedly) stolen records thing and off he went to Essex.
Not long after, Southern Radio Group (aka Southern Sound) bought Invicta, a lot of the jocks left and despite a certain Daryl Denham (later. Hallam, now Kiss Birmingham) doing a pretty good stint at breakfast, things were never quite the same again.
